The Victorian Government is investing $34.9 million to redevelop the Sunshine Hospital Emergency Department to provide for the growing needs of the western suburbs with timely and world-class medical care.
Sunshine’s Emergency department is one of the busiest in Victoria and the redevelopment will increase capacity from 65,000 emergency patients every year to 124,000.
The redevelopment includes the addition of 65 treatment spaces to the current 55, an expanded children’s section with a kids-only area to provide a calmer, more compassionate environment to receive emergency care, and a mental health, alcohol and other drug crisis hub and short stay unit.
