Cradle Coast Campus
The transformation of the University of Tasmania’s Cradle Coast precinct into a community-orientated campus celebrates the importance of place, connection to the land and an ambitious future. Through the use of scale, local materials and form, the architecture reinterprets the dramatic coastline while delivering an environmentally sustainable, low-carbon building.
The wayfinding and signage design references the building’s linear expression and refined material palette – black steel and locally sourced Tasmanian timber. The wayfinding totems, made out of folded black steel, reinforce the building’s verticality and act as beacon as students and visitors navigate across levels. The design minimises the use of additional materials and integrates signage elements into the interior architecture.
